Meath students travel in style
Lorraine Rogers is a Child Care Officer in the residential department of I CAN’s Meath School for pupils with speech and/or language disorders in Surrey. Here she explains just how much the new school minibus means to the children.
In residential we use the minibus on a regular basis and to have a brand new one is a pretty big deal! The children were so excited at the prospect of getting a new minibus that when it arrived and they went out in it they were beside themselves with excitement!
Having a minibus gives us the opportunity to go out as a whole group and enjoy different activities such as; trips to the park in the summer months, going to Gym Club and Trampoline club twice a week, end of term trips to different places and to be honest if the children had their way we would use it just to go for a drive they like it that much!
There are some added bonuses with our new minibus, we have some mod cons in the dashboard such as – Bluetooth radio, reversing sensors front and back, reversing camera, wheelchair access ramp, step to help get in, but what tops it for all in the residential team including the children was having AIR CONDITIONING and the fact that you can blow it into the back – as you can imagine having a bus full in the heat of the summer can get a bit stuffy but we now travel in luxury!
We are all very pleased with the minibus and we are extremely grateful to the people who fundraised and helped us get such a new and up to date minibus.
