Growing talk, together! A guest blog from Tots on Tour
As keen supporters of I CAN and I CAN’s Chatterbox Challenge since 2004, Fiona Cann (Speech and Language Therapist) and Sara Sprague (Teacher and mother of a child with severe, complex speech and language difficulties) are passionate about enhancing children’s communication skills.
“Having supported many families and children with speech and language difficulties over the last 14 years and having a daughter with complex speech and language difficulties, who benefited greatly from her placement at an I CAN school, we are always keen to support the work of I CAN and I CAN’s Chatterbox Challenge and this year is no different!
Mikey, our “Talking and Listening partner” and all the team at Tots on Tour love a party and so we are very excited about next year’s Chatterbox Challenge: Ben & Holly’s Elf and Fairy Party #ChatterboxChallenge. We have already been busy and enlisted the help of some of our fairy friends to plan lots of engaging, magical activities for our Chatterbox Challenge that we will be sharing with families, Early Years practitioners and professionals on our blog, “Growing Talk Together”, and at training events across the country. The Ben & Holly Elf and Fairy Party theme will provides us with a great excuse to play lots of party games, have fun dressing up and of course we will need to do lots of baking! All these activities will enhance children’s early communication skills in a fun and engaging way.”
I CAN’s Chatterbox Challenge provides the perfect annual event to highlight and share with families and professionals the ways they can support children across the UK, who are struggling to communicate.
We are already looking forward to inviting all our families and early years practitioners to join us in hosting a magical Ben & Holly Elf and Fairy party. You should join the fun too by registering for your FREE Chatterbox Challenge Activity Pack at www.chatterboxchallenge.org.uk ! Chatterbox Challenge is a really fun way to enhance your children’s communication skills, grow their talk and confidence whilst raising awareness and pennies for I CAN, the children’s communication charity. This is one of the many, many ways they help children develop the speech, language and communication skills they need to thrive in a 21st century world, and we are very excited to be on board again for 2016!
