Vicky Perry tells us why she and her family have signed up for I CAN’s Hop & Walk event
We are so excited to be hosting our very brand new event, the I CAN Hop & Walk! We are inviting families to join us on the 27th September 2015 to hop and walk one mile at Surrey’s Runnymede Pleasure Grounds. It will be a fun filled day with a range of activities for families including a story book corner, face painting, bouncy castle and more.
Vicky Perry and her family are one of our first families to sign up to the event. Vicky tells us why she is taking part and what she is looking forward to on the day:
Our 2½ year old daughter, Layla, has a mechanical speech delay. Currently on the long waiting list for treatment, we came across I CAN via the Talking Point website. I CAN have helped us immensely so far; in particular one of their speech therapists who has given us unrivalled support, and continues to do so. We felt it was only right to give something back to the charity and saw their Hop and Walk sponsored event on their website.
We have decided to take part in the event as a family, and hope that Layla will be able to walk the full mile with us. We are trying to teach her how to hop (but she prefers jumping!) We are looking forward to raising some much needed funds for I CAN so that they can continue to support parents like us. Friends and family have been extremely supportive with our fundraising efforts so far, and we hope to exceed our target and help to spread awareness of I CAN and the amazing work that they do.
