It’s not too late to secure training from I CAN for your September INSET Day!
With the new school year fast approaching, many schools are looking for productive training opportunities for their INSET days. The forthcoming INSET days provide the perfect opportunity for schools and settings to develop their expertise in supporting the communication development of their pupils. The following training packages available from I CAN cover the entire school remit from the early years to secondary school.
Beginning with the early years, Early Talk 0-5 is an insightful and engaging programme, developed for the early year’s workforce, encouraging partnership with parents. The training courses have been independently evaluated and successfully delivered across a large number of settings; with the positive impact on staff continually helping to enhance the learning environment for children.
The Early Talk 0-5 programme features 4 different courses; namely Working with Under 3s; Working with Parents; Supporting Communication and Enhancing Communication. Each course takes a school day to complete and I CAN will come to your setting or school to deliver the training.
Also, by late September 2015 we will have an exciting new language and communication programme available for nursery aged children called Early Talk Boost. Early Talk Boost is an early years intervention for children aged 3 to 4 years old with delayed communication and language skills who need targeted support to enable them to catch up with their peers. Register your interest now at firstname.lastname@example.org
For Primary School’s we have a number of training opportunities to support staff and children with speech, language and communication.
Talk Boost is an intervention package that narrows the gaps between 4-7 years olds with delayed language and their peers. The 10 week intervention is delivered by TAs and teachers and delivers compelling evidence through its outcomes data. As part of the package, staff receive a day’s instructive training and can also develop skills relevant for whole class teaching.
Primary Talk is another practical programme from I CAN which has been developed specifically for Primary schools and is aimed at teachers and support staff working in KS1 and 2. Primary Talk supports staff to nurture the communication development of all children, including those with speech, language and communication needs and as such, can help schools improve pupils’ outcomes.
Finally, Secondary Talk is an evidence based programme designed for Secondary schools which includes: consultancy, standards and validation, training modules, coaching and resource materials all of which help to embed communication supportive practice which impacts on the behaviour, attainment and engagement of students.
