An amazing day at the Virgin Money London Marathon!
We would like to say a big thank you to all those who participated in the Virgin Money London Marathon for I CAN! Taking place on Sunday 13th April, it was a fantastic day with 23 marathon runners taking part on our behalf.
Our marathon runners have been training and fundraising since October last year in order to cover the 26.2 mile distance and raise £1,800. A lot of our runners have smashed their target which is fantastic so from this event we are hoping to raise over £40,000.
A special mention goes out to our team of Savills runners for taking part on behalf of I CAN. Savills have supported I CAN’s work over the past 6 years and we are so grateful to have so many of them on this year’s team!
Our fantastic staff and volunteers came out to cheer our runners to the finish line at mile 25. I CAN runner Alex Crawley said ‘I managed to spot you as I ran past and really appreciated the support on the last mile.’ After the race I CAN held a post race reception where some of our runners were able to join us and celebrate their amazing achievement with their friends and family.
I CAN runner Rebecca Sullivan summed up her experience saying that it was ‘such an amazing day! Very painful but the crowds just keep you going. Thanks so much for being so supportive and informative along the way’ Rebecca was also featured in a BBC article, click here to check it out.
I CAN runner Kathy Sinnamon said I ‘just wanted to say a massive thank you for giving me the chance to run for I CAN. The whole experience has been amazing and I’m chuffed that I’ve raised my target and more.’
