Meath school staff and pupils complete ‘Pyjama Marathon’ for I CAN’s 125th anniversary
Today (Friday 18th October), staff and 42 pupils from Meath School completed a relay marathon in their pyjamas and onesies to raise money for I CAN’s 125th Anniversary.
The staff and children completed the relay marathon on the school field in 50 minutes, after the staff performed a ‘Gangnam Style’ dance. As 2013 is I CAN’s 125th anniversary year of supporting vulnerable children, the charity is encouraging individuals, schools and companies to sign up for the 125 challenge. Meath School staff and pupil are raising money to go towards their £1000 target as I CAN 125 Champions.
Sarah Billingham, Meath School Assistant Headteacher said, “All the staff and pupils had a brilliant time at our pyjama marathon – and have raised money for I CAN’s 125th Anniversary. For our children who have severe and complex communication difficulties, this event was a really positive opportunity to build confidence and develop both coordination skills and social skills. Thanks to everyone who sponsored us and for all the pupils and staff for taking part”.
