Over £300 raised at I CAN’s Dawn House School ‘Rainbow Race’
Dawn House School hosted last week [Friday 19 July] an end of year ‘Rainbow Race’, the first annual balloon launch at the school.
Two hundred and fifty balloons were released into the Mansfield sky and the balloon that travels the furthest and has its ticket returned to the school will win their sponsor an i-Tunes voucher prize. Over 150 pupils and their families, staff, and local school neighbours assembled at the school to watch the balloons being released.
Over £320 has been raised from the event and the money will go towards a positive play room for the pupils, which aims to raise their self esteem helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
Angela Child, I CAN Dawn House School Principal said, “We are thrilled that over 150 pupils, staff, families and local neighbours gathered to see our first annual ‘Rainbow Race’. We have so far raised £326 to go towards our positive playroom, to help our pupils with communication difficulties access the curriculum and raise their self-esteem. This event marked the end of the academic year for Dawn House School and was a celebration during I CAN’s 125th Anniversary year. Thank you to everyone who sponsored a balloon and came along to support the school – it was an amazing event. The gasps of delight as the balloons rose into the clear blue skies was a joy to observe.”
