2013 Family Fun Runners 2

Still chance to enter Bath Half Family Fun Run for I CAN

With the New Year in full bloom, and lots of talk of resolutions and a healthier you in 2013, there is still time to secure your place in the Bath Half Family Fun Run, which will take place just after the start of the half marathon on Sunday 3 March.

The Fun Run has grown year on year with over 1000 people taking part last year, doubling in size since 2010, allowing even more families to take part. The official charity for the 2013 Bath Half Family Fun Run is I CAN.

Places are limited for the fun run, and organisers are urging those wanting to run to act now to avoid disappointment.

Race Director, Andrew Taylor commented: “The fun run always sells out before race day, and we always see a flurry of entries early in the New Year, so for those thinking about taking part, I would encourage you to do so now to ensure you don’t miss out”.

The Fun Run course is perfect for families, at just over 1.5 miles long and completely traffic-free. Entrants can run, walk, stroll or skip around the course – children and adults of all ages and abilities are encouraged to register and get involved.

Andrew added:  “The Bath Half Family Fun Run is perfect for children and families with pushchairs who want to walk the course, as well as adults who have taken on a New Year challenge and want to break themselves in to running events slowly before taking on a longer distance course. Entries for the half marathon sold out last year, but starting and finishing under the main race gantry on Great Pulteney Street, fun run entrants get to experience the same thrill of crossing the finish line as those doing the half.”

Lynne Regal, I CAN Head of Community and Corporate Fundraising, said, “I CAN, the children’s communication charity, are thrilled to be the official charity for the Bath Half Family Fun Run this year. We have a fantastic team of runners all gearing up for the Half Marathon and Fun Run course. Come and join us on the day at our cheering point. All I CAN runners and their families will be invited to join I CAN’s post race tea party where they will also get the chance to meet Humf, from Nick Jr. All the money raised by our Fun runners and Half Marathon runners will go to I CAN’s work with the 1.2 million children in the UK with a speech, language and communication difficulty who need extra help to achieve their potential so thank you to all our fantastic I CAN runners and their supporters”.

All runners are computer-chip timed and will receive a special Fun Run T-shirt.  All finishers also get a race medal and free goody bag.

I CAN also have Bath Half Marathon places left – so if you are interested in registering for the Half Marathon distance and supporting I CAN’s work with children who struggle to communicate, go to www.ican.org.uk/bathhalf
