Guest blog from National Childminding Association (NCMA): How childcare professionals can support children’s communication development
Children learn and develop in different ways but generally within certain stages of development at certain ages. Communication and language is a vital aspect underpinning children’s learning and development. Childcare professionals play a vital role in ensuring children learn how to communicate to the best of their ability. Childminders and nannies can work together with parents to support children and their speech and language development. Very often childcare professionals are the first people to spot early signs that a child may not be developing their communication and language at the same pace as other children.
The National Childminding Association (NCMA) is supporting childminders and nannies to provide high standards of care and learning for children. All new members joining the professional association can claim a free digital starter kit* containing lots of activities helping practitioners deliver best practice childcare. It also includes details of how to claim a free I CAN Learning to Talk DVD which includes a poster. Visit ncma.org.uk/freegift or call 0300 003 0008.
