‘The Red Wot Was Fez’ – Guest Post by The Friends of Dawn House
On Friday 30th November, The Friends of Dawn House ventured into Sheffield for our first offsite fundraising event at ‘The Blue Shed’. The venue, owned by Matthew and Jennifer Dronfield (who have two children at Dawn House), is a cleverly converted warehouse, boasting a bar, dining space and multi level performance area for arts, music and drama.
Guests were treated to a homemade pie and pea supper, before watching ‘The Red Wot Was Fez’, performed by community drama group ‘Under The Headstocks’. The play tells the story of a child called Kenneth, who is on the autistic spectrum, and takes the audience on a journey from Kenneth’s birth to age 16, witnessing the impact that his difficulties have on his parents’ relationship.
The event was a resounding success, with a whopping £1490 being raised through ticket sales, raffle, Christmas stalls and bar takings. Our warmest thanks go to Matthew and Jennifer, for their hard work, generosity and enthuisam, without which the event would not have been possible.
