Are you EYFS ready? Your responses…

Thanks to everyone who responded to our survey about the Early Years Foundation Stage changes. Only a tiny minority knew nothing about the EYFS – 49% wanted to know more about this key policy. 36% said they were going to receive training in the new EYFS but 13% anticipated receiving none at all.

Your top three main concerns about the revised EYFS are:

  1. The new paperwork (29%)
  2. Not knowing enough about how the new EYFS affects you (21%)
  3. The summary of development (18%)

You feel more confident and ready to implement some aspects of the EYFS – e.g. working with parents, communication and language – than the summary, profile and early learning goals. You would like guidance on these areas and more online information and free materials.

Some welcomed the changes, but some said they’d just got used to the original EYFS and were worried about a lack of support for smaller providers and childminders.

I CAN already offers training advice and resources for practitioners on several of the topics mentioned in the survey including:

  • Summary of development
  • Working with parents
  • Promoting children’s language development

Over the next few months, to help you gear up for these changes, our expert early year’s team will be sharing ideas, resources and tips about the revised EYFS on this blog and through our newsletters so look out for more information.
